Museum of Nottingham Life at Brewhouse Yard

Step back in time and discover over 300 years of Nottingham’s history… Witness for yourself what houses and shops would have looked like in the early 1900s and see a huge variety of items (from toys to tools) that span the years . The Museum of Nottingham Life is housed within five 17th century cottages where you can learn about the people of Nottingham through the objects they made, used or owned and the stories they tell us.

Open Saturdays, Sundays & Bank Holidays   12 – 4pm – Last Entry 3:30pm
(excluding Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day)  Pre-booked tours are available Monday – Friday, from 10am to 5pm, for parties of 10 or more only. Tours must be booked in advance – for more details or to book call 0115 8761400.

Admission Prices


The ground floor of the Museum of Nottingham Life is fully accessible however there is no lift access to the upper floors of the museum or the Rock Cottage school room. Within the grounds there is an accessible toilet.  If you would like further details please contact us on 0115 8761400.

Follow signs from M1 for Nottingham city centre, then follow the brown tourist signs to Nottingham Castle.  The postcode for your sat nav is
NG7 1FB (but please remember there is no parking on site except for people with disabilities).
